Biomass is organic material from plants or animals, that when combusted only releases the amount of CO2 that it has absorbed during growth, thus being a carbon neutral energy reserve.
In biogas plants, biomass decomposes in a hermetically sealed container, releasing combustible biogas which is then used in generating electricity. The resulting heat can also be used sensibly and efficiently, for example by being fed into district heating networks for neighbouring towns.
GP JOULE operates two of its own biogas plants using renewable raw materials, and assists its customers in this sector with all project planning and financing issues and with a biogas service for Schleswig-Holstein.
Because the local biogas market is already well developed, GP JOULE is primarily concentrating its involvement in projects abroad.
We are of the firm opinion that all natural resources should be used in association with one another. Our strength is that we can determine what makes sense for a specific location, or what combinations would be preferable. In this regard, what is special about biogas plants is that they offer the opportunity to generate local, base-loaded electricity.
